The area extends from north of Kathmandu to the Tibetan border and the region sees far fewer trekkers than Everest and Annapurna. The highest peak in this area being Langtang Lirung at 7246 m. According to a legend a lama following a runaway yak discovered the valley, Hence the name Lang for Tibetan yak and tang means to follow. The Langtang valley trek starts with 6-7 hours in jeep and about 9 hours in bus ride from Kathmandu. Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will there to pick you up. Then you’ll be transfered to hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Bus ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550 m / 5085 ft)
In the morning bus ride to Syabru Besi from Kathmandu. It may take upto 9 hours with the scenic landscapes of villages, mountains like Manaslu and Annapurna. Reaching Syabru Besi and taking rest at a tea house there.
Day 3: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2380 m / 7808 ft)
From Syabru Besi walking along Langtang Khola and you’ll see beautiful Rhododendron and Oak trees. On the way there will be tea shops for having lunch etc. After reaching Lama Hotel, you will stay here overnight.
Day 4: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430 m / 11253 ft)
After leaving Lama Hotel we’ll move towards a beautiful valley Langtang village. You will reach Langtang village inhabited by Tamang and Sherpas people where you can learn about the socio-economic life of that region. This is the place to explore the beauty of hidden nature.
Day 5: Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa
After leaving Langtang village and walking for a few hours Muna and Singdun will be reached. Having lunch at Singdun and walking for a while to reach Kyanjin Gompa. There are monasteries in the Kyanjin village/Kyanjing gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the last tea house place in short Langtang Trek where you’ll spend the night here.
Day 6: Kyanjin Gompa to Tsergo Ri (5000 m / 16404 ft)
Kyanjin Gompa to Tsergo Ri (4984 m) and return back Tsergo Ri is an amazing place to get amazing views of the beautiful mountains. You’ll see Morimoto peak, Langtang Lirung, Pogen Dhopku, Ghangchhempo etc. You will return to Kyanjin Gompa and stay here overnight.
Day 7: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2380 m / 7808 ft)
You will walk through beautiful forests along with Langtang Khola and walking further you reach Lama Hotel. After this you will stay here overnight.
Day 8: Return to Syabru Besi (1550 m / 5085 ft)
Returning to Syabru Besi will be easy trek and you will stay overnight at Syabru Besi.
Day 9: Drive back to Kathmandu
Ride from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu for about 9 hours.

Yes, to do a trek around the Langtang region permit is mandatory for foreigners.
The permits you need for Langtang Valley Trek are Langtang National Park Permit and TIMS (Tourist Information Management System) card which can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board’s Office in Kathmandu.
You’ll need to provide the following documents to get permits:
– 2 Passport-sized photos
– Copy of your passport
– Trek starts and ends date, Itinerary/route
– Travel Insurance Details etc
Altitude sickness is caused due to the lack of oxygen in high altitudes. To avoid it you can keep your body hydrated, give up smoking, alcohol, caffeine and don’t skip the acclimatization day.

The distance between Kathmandu to Syabrubesi is approximitely 122 kilometers. You can reach there by private jeep or by public bus. For faster service and less noise private jeep will be the best choice. Public Bus to Dhunche, Langtang is much cheaper than hiring a jeep. The bus service is available at bus park in Kathmandu.
