Kakani Hiking with breathtaking scenery

Kakani is not much of a tourist destination in northern part of the Kathmandu valley. It is in Nuwakot district, 29 km. away from Kathmandu and the elevation is about 2100 m. from the sea level. One can see the mountain landscape of central Nepal, a vast collection of majestic peaks stretching from Ganesh Himal to the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. There is an unusually perfect blending of the imposing mountain scenery with the more sylvan environment of the lower valleys. Rhododendrons growing wild on the mountain slopes begin to bloom in late winter and stay in bloom for several months, giving the village even more charm.

The place is famous for its breathtaking scenery and a lot of potential for day hiking- and if you are interested you can extend your hikes to a numbers of days because of a exotic views of the world`s highest mountains including Manasalu, Annapurna, Ganesh, Gaurishanker etc. and the low-land villages appear from kakani. There is a century old summer villa used by the British Embassy a long ago as well as the memorial park that commemorates the victims of 1992 Thai Airways Flight 311 accident. If we are there between February to April, we will see local people selling fresh Strawberries. Trust us their Strawberries are best in the world. We star our hike from kakani, walk through dense forests and continue via ally to finally end our hike at Budhanilkantha. It is a really good hike of 4 to 5 hours. But we can take more time to rest and take photos to enjoy on our own.
