Pataleban hiking is the nearest hiking to Kathmandu city. It is only 17 kilometers from the core part of the Kathmandu. Pataleban in Nepali means “thin forest”, a place to enjoy mesmerizing views of the sunset. You can see the Himalayan range of Annapurna, Manaslu and Ganesh himal. Other attractions of this place are the Indradaha and Manakamana (wish-fulfilling goddess) temple.
Pataleban community forest is well known for bird watching activities. It is quite pleasant with the chirping of birds, beautiful views and fresh air. Pataleban is a shelter for many bird species such as cuckoo, kalij pheasant, almpuchhre and many more. You can hear pleasant pine trees sound.

Pataleban hiking route where the entry fee is not required here as in other places. Passing through the community forest of Pataleban, though a moderate hike, 40-60 minutes walk uphill through the forest.
Hiking starts from Pataleban Vineyard Resort. First, we hike 20 minutes inside the jungle which has lots of rhododendron and mountain berry trees. It is a community forest, that lies 1600 meters above sea level. After 20 minutes we will reach a small hill then we explore the Tamang and the Gurung community near to city side after one hour walk we will be top station which is famous for historical and religious expectations. At the top, we could see the beautiful Kathmandu Valley and Langtang and other mountain ranges.
After completing Pataleban hiking we walk downstairs and after one hour and thirty minutes, we will catch the car. Then we’ll return back to the hotel.
You can also modify your schedule instead of returning to the hotel in the city. There is a Pataleban Vineyard Resort to stay for refreshment which is a combination of a resort, vineyard and winery. Resort cost is not included in this one-day Pataleban hiking package.

Kazi Kalu Pande was born on 1713 A.D. in Gorkha. His birth name is Vamshidhar Pande. He was killed in 1757 during the war of Kirtipur. It was a war for the unification of small kingdoms led by King Prithvi Narayan Shah. Pandey was buried on the top of the hill as he wished to be buried in Gorkha or any place from where Gorkha could be seen.
Indradaha
Indradaha is the pond where the King of Heaven lord Indra took a bath with his elephant. Located at an altitude of 2,370 meters above sea level, it is a very beautiful place with historical monuments.
Manakamana temple
One way we could visit the Manakamana temple, which is the replica temple of the main Manakamana temple. This temple was established after the 1st battle of Kirtipur in 1814 where we could see deities including Manakamana Mai. It has cultural, historical and religious importance. Manakamana Mai is Hindu Goddess Bhagwati and the word Manakamana is made from two different words “mana+Kamana”. The word “mana” means heart and “kamana” means wish, a wish-fulfilling goddess. People have a strong belief that if anyone makes a wish in front of the goddess by their heart, after taking a bath in the early morning without eating anything then their wish will be fulfilled.
